Vernon Lee Williams

January 9, 1951 — January 21, 2025

Durant

Vernon Lee Williams was born on January 9, 1951, to Robert Lee and Lethel Williams, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the third child of ten children.

He departed this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Durant, OK. Vernon Williams was a very soft-spoken person. He was humble and kindhearted. Vernon served his family, church, and community honorably. He was a true servant and devoted man of God.

Vernon was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Vernon did not mind sharing what he had and was a very giving person. At an early age, Vernon learned the responsibility of caring for others. As one of the eldest children, he cared for some of his younger siblings when his mother and father went to work. This gave Vernon plenty of practice for his future family.

Mutual friends introduced Vernon to Georgia Johnson and her young daughter Emiah Georgette. It did not take long for him to realize that Georgia was the one for him. He married his loving wife, Georgia, in 1976 and later adopted Emiah Georgette in 1981. To Vernon and Georgia’s union ten children were born. He worked hard to provide for the family he loved so dearly. Vernon always had a creative spirit. He was a talented musician and he was gifted at drawing. This led him in the direction of being an entrepreneur. He desired to create a business for himself and he did just that. He provided a reliable service for many individuals, commercial businesses, and churches.

Vernon was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He played bass guitar at Tabernacle Church of Jesus Christ for over forty years and served the church as a faithful deacon for more than thirty years.
