Ruby Mae Lewis was born in Scott, Arkansas on January 31, 1943, to Pete and Penilla “Nellie” Lewis. She was the last of three children, two older brothers: Albert Lewis and R.C. Lewis. After her mother passed away when she was two years old, she was raised by her father, and a wonderful stepmother, Aline Lewis, affectionately known as “Momma”.
She married Charles Herbert Williams, and to that union six children were born. She had eleven children all together, two being miscarriages. She had a heart for her children and her family.
Ruby was a member of the Greater New Hope Baptist Church under the pastoral care of the late Pastor Isiah Bennett and was the eldest mother of the church. An avid talker, she constantly engaged in conversations about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herbert Williams; her biological mother, Penilla Lewis; her father and stepmother, Pete Lewis and Aline Lewis; two brothers, Albert Lewis and R.C. Lewis; four children, Diane M. Rendell, Charles H. Williams, Jr. “Bubba”, Gregory A. Williams, and Kimberly S. Williams, and three grandchildren: Donly Williams, Daryl Williams, and Erica Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Daphne Williams, Herbert Williams, Kenneth Williams, Melvin Williams, and Herman Williams, as well as a host grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
