Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather was granted traveling grace from this earth to eternity on March 10, 2025. Roy was born on October 25, 1943, the only son of Searcy Taylor-Alexander and Rem Stewart. He grew up in the Military Heights area of North Little Rock, Arkansas with his two sisters, Doris Keener and Almeda Smith. Roy attended Scipio A. Jones High School, graduating with the class of 1961. He also earned a degree in sociology from Arkansas Baptist College. After serving in the US Army, Roy was employed in various capacities and found permanency with US Postal Service, where he retired after 41 years and 10 months.

He was a dedicated officer and financial secretary with the National Alliance of Postal and Federal Employees “NAPFE”, S.A. Jones Alumni, Mabel Methodist Church and Bible Study Fellowship.

Roy married Barbara Vineyard in 1968, however Barbara passed away in 1995. The two shared three children: Brenda, Karen, and Cory. Roy married Alice Foster-Hammonds in 1996, and they created a blended family adding Cameron and Derrick; so, began their adventures in travel. Cruising became their favorite way to enjoy vacations, but a spur of the moment ride in the GMC opened scenic roadways to the best eateries along the way.

Roy’s greatest joy was seeing the bright eyes and smiling faces of his grandchildren, including visits to various amusement parks, Disney World and Newport Beach, California. When his great-grandsons arrived, (the others were dating by then) Connor, Karson and Micah became his “everything”, relishing attending the ball games & school activities.

Roy was a quiet man of integrity, honesty and great faith. He studied God’s word daily and attended classes at Bible Study Fellowship for several years.

Roy will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Alice; children: Brenda (Roland), Karen, Cameron, Derrick (Aisha), and Cory; grandchildren: Courtney, Ashley (Madrid) , Samantha, Josiah, Zhion, Zaria, Alexis, Arya, Roshonda, and Eboni( Bryce); great-grandchildren: Connor, Karson and Micah; special cousin, Julia (Raymond) Butler, members of the Postal Service Retirees Breakfast Club, Enterprise Holdings Unit 51CL, S. A Jones Alumni Class of 1961, and his beloved Mabelvale Methodist Church family, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

While we are saddened by Roy’s sudden departure, we are so much more enriched by his example of unwavering faith, words of wisdom & love.
