Robin Elaina Nelson, 54, of Plano, Texas, was born on July 21, 1970, to the late Sam and Maudie Nelson. She accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Wheel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Ivory Brooks.
Robin was educated in the Pulaski County Special School District, attending College Station Elementary and Cloverdale Middle School before graduating from Central High School in the Little Rock School District in 1988.
She pursued higher education at Philander Smith University and later earned a bachelor's degree from Webster University and a master's degree from the University of Phoenix - Dallas Campus.
Robin built a distinguished career in banking. She began at First Commercial National Bank in the Mortgage & Loan Department. After a merger with Regions Bank, an investor recognized her expertise and presented her with a career opportunity in Dallas, Texas. She relocated in 1999 and worked in the financial sector until returning home to Little Rock in July 2024.
While in Dallas, Robin faithfully attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a devoted choir member under the leadership of the late Rev. Karry D. Wesley.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Nelson and Maudie B. Nelson; her sisters, Ruth Nelson and Linda Cogshell; and her brothers, Samuel Nelson and Cleveland Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Maud Esther (Jimmy) Burton and Karen Gail (Denormis) Worsham; her brother, Anthony (Debra) Nelson, all of Little Rock; her aunts, Lottie Williams and Rosetta Williams, both of Little Rock; her uncle, Herbert (Leila) Williams of Chicago, Illinois; her goddaughter, Robin Brown “Red Robin” of Houston, Texas; and her special friends: Roylett Turner of Houston, Texas; Tova Crutchfield, Felicia “Leechia” Kaye, Karen Dobbins, and Kim Holland, all of Little Rock; as well as Sonya Johnson and Percia Hunter, both of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
