Ricky Holmes

As we retrace the footprints of Ricky H. Holmes, Sr., we give thanks for the many lives he touched along his life’s journey. Ricky was loved by his family and friends. He was always the laughter of good times when in his presence. Ricky always helped his family in any way that he could. He will always be remembered for his many fond jokes, eventful stories and hearty laughter as well as his overall generosity.

Ricky was born on August 20, 1959 to both the late LH Holmes, Sr., and Rosie Lee Greer Holmes, in Altheimer, Arkansas. He received his education from the Altheimer Public Schools, and was a graduating member of the Wabbaseka High School class of 1977.

He accepted Christ at an early age and always taught his children the importance of having a relationship with God.

Ricky spent some time in the Coast Guard stationed in California during his younger days.

Ricky was a family man who believed in providing true values to his children and extended family. He instilled in them hard-working ethics and discipline. His employment career included working for Siemens, Little Rock School District and Mr. Mike Parker where he would retire as a machinist. He continued to do small engine repair as this was a hobby of his.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Staci Ellis, son; Ricky Holmes, Jr., a brother; James Moten, Sr., along with other aunts, uncles, and relatives.

He departed this life peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025.

He leaves to cherish and honor his memories his daughters; Lisa Holmes, Pamela Holmes, brothers; Frank Whitmore, Larry Moten and LH Holmes, Jr., sisters; Martha Broom, Mary Johnson, Betty James, Sheila Holmes and Shirley Faye Holmes, grandchildren; Maya Watson and Nova Raye Holmes, and a host of aunts, uncles, and relatives whom he loved dearly. He held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews.
