James was born in Scott, Arkansas to Leroy Crutchfield and Jesse Crutchfield. James is preceded by his parents, brothers, Freddie Crutchfield, John Crutchfield, Merron Crutchfield, Vernon Crutchfield; sisters, Fannie Mae Nelson, and Herbertine Rideout.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age, being baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Spirit at Greater Christ Temple by Bishop Leodies Warren. He later became a member of First Deliverance Temple. He was also a musician for Greater Christ Temple, Christ Temple, and First Deliverance Temple. He was a devout man in Christ through his last days. He was a loving father, amazing humanitarian, and a great teacher of music and life. He mentored young children and adults in the way of music, helping them to master the lead and bass guitar. He had a passion for helping others become the best versions of themselves. He was a soft-spoken man with a beautiful spirit, who would do whatever he could to help everyone; he was truly a god sent man that touched the lives of so many.
He leaves to cherish his memory seven children, Michael (Alabama), Rosalind (Arkansas), Kenneth (Texas), Keith (Arkansas), Rodrick (Arkansas), Nicole (Arizona), and Jermaine (Texas); two brothers, Benjamin Crutchfield (Nevada) and Booker Crutchfield (Texas); one sister, Teresa Bailey (California), thirty grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
