Gregory LaVern Peterson

April 21, 1957 — March 16, 2025

Little Rock

Gregory Lavern Peterson, who was born on April 21, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Lawrence and Mary S. Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Kenneth Peterson, Bonnie Kay Harris, Rodney Peterson, Marlene Rush, and Darlene Simmons; and his beloved son, Gregory L. Peterson Jr.

Gregory accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at First Baptist Church, 901 Calhoun St., Little Rock, Arkansas, under the leadership of Rev. William Thrasher. His faith remained a guiding force in his life, shaping his character and the love he showed to those around him.

Gregory was a proud graduate of Little Rock Hall High School, Class of 1977, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed his passion for sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, never missing a chance to cheer on his team, no matter the season. His love for football was only rivalled by his love for family, whom he cherished above all else.

He dedicated 12 years of service to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) before retiring. His work ethic, kindness, and commitment to helping others left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Gregory’s life was filled with joy, laughter, and a deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and faith. Those who will forever cherish his memory include his loving wife of 29 years Anita Peterson; his three loving children: Odessa Peterson, Marcus Green, and Maria Peterson, all of Arkansas; four devoted siblings: Sandford Frazier (Shirley Frazier), Dwayne Peterson, Montez Peterson (Deidra Peterson), and Dorothy Chism; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Gregory’s presence was a blessing to all who knew him. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.
