Donald Ray Smith

September 24, 1961 — May 1, 2024

Donald Ray Smith, known affectionately as Duck passed away on May 1, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 62. He was born on September 24,1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Willie Smith and Burnice (Shavers) Burnett. Donald attended school in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Even though he was little he didn't let his height stop him from doing the things he loved to do. When he was younger, he loved playing basketball and football with his friends at the park on Second Street in North Little Rock. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. He had a tremendous amount of love for his family and enjoyed being with them holding family gatherings. He was the type of person who never met a stranger, so he had many friends to enjoy life with. He was always putting things back in their place. And making sure his surroundings were clean and organized. Once he started cleaning, he would do a great job. If he was involved with anything, he would do the best job he could at it.

He knew that GOD was the one to call on in times of trouble, because his mother was a strong, Godly woman, who taught all of her children to love God.

His favorite saying was "UNDERSTANDING IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD" and he made sure everyone that knew him had a good understanding of who he was, and where he was coming from.

He will be missed dearly by his entire family and all his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Burnice Burnett And Willie Smith, brothers: Terry Lee Smith, Rickey Burnett, Larry Smith, Welton Smith, sister Willie Busby, and nephew Tilton McDonald.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Brandi (Carlos) Hills and Arsenio Brooks, his grandchildren; Anaijah, JaBraius, James Jr., Arsenio and Aiyana. Brothers Otis Burnett, Charles Burnett, Verlin Sherril and Charlie Smith, sisters; Doyce Williams, Sharon (Chris) Easley, Aretha Sherril, Ida Rainey, Ollie Rudolph, Delois Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday May 10, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church, 901 Calhoun Street in Little Rock. The family will receive friends Thursday May 9, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Hardy Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.
