Charlotte Ann Nelson
On May 18th, 1943, a courageous queen was brought into the world through the late Bertha Mae Alexander and C.L. Nelson. She was raised by her wonderful loving grandmother Mamaie Jackson Fuller. Charlotte lived a full life with her friends and family all while making a joyful noise for the lord.
Charlotte gave her life to Christ at an early age deciding to let him order her footsteps for the rest of her life. She was a proud member of First Baptist Church located in North Little Rock Arkansas where she spent most days serving others.
Charlotte was educated in the white county school district. She was a graduate of the class of 1961 from Searcy High School. She worked at target for a little over 18 years as a diligent and dependable sales associate. She was recognized as one of the longest standing employees with a stellar attendance and performance record. Her hard work did not stop there. She was afforded the opportunity to begin her second career in the North Little Rock School District. She quickly became a school favorite with her vibrant personality and contagious smile. Always uplifting the students and her peers with laughter and words of wisdom. You could find her in the kitchen cooking some of the best food you ever tasted and filling bellies. After retiring from the School District, she spent her time watching her Golden State Warriors and the Arkansas Razorbacks on game days, gardening, listening to the blues, spending time with her family and grandkids, and being pillar in her community. She volunteered every week at the church store on JFK. She also cooked for anyone who needed or wanted a plate. She was known by everyone in her neighborhood as “Mamma”. With her heart of gold and tell it like it is mentality, she was viewed and adored as the mother of the neighborhood.
She was proceeded in death by one son: Reginald Nelson, her father: C.L. Nelson, mother: Bertha Mae Alexander, grandmother: Mamaie Fuller, brother: Michael and Bruce Nelson and a great grandchild: Alana Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her daughter Decarla Nelson; grandchildren: Jalen Nelson, Bianca Nelson, and Dedra Watson; a bonus granddaughter: Tajiah Roberts; great grandchildren: Carter Slaton, Jayce Jackson, Julian & Jillian Thompson, Crystal Slaton, Ryin, Eryn, & Jaylee Nelson; siblings: Bruce Ambus Nelson, Timothy & Claudia Nelson and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 19, 2024, 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church, 2015 Main Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 6-7pm at Hardy Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 5300 West 12th Street.
